Stewart Bloor
Born in Staffordshire, England, Stewart became a Christian in his early twenties. With a testimony akin to that of Saul on the road to Damascus, Stewart’s life was turned around in an instant, as he began to walk a brand new path in life. He had always believed in God in his head but on that day the penny dropped into his heart.
The call to ministry was immediate and so, in 1984, Stewart began to serve as a youth pastor. Very quickly, this also incorporated main church ministry, functioning as a pastor. Church planting, evangelism and a heart for missions all flowed naturally, as part of God’s plan for his life.
When doors began to open overseas, it led to a main focus on the latter (missions), with Stewart and Debby launching a Christian-based charity that handled more than a million pounds during the time that it operated. Mainly in Africa, the work of the ministry not only reached people for Jesus, but was also involved in numerous practical projects.
Since the initial call, preaching has always been part of Stewart’s ministry and, although the overseas work came to an end – life has seasons – after ministering in 18 nations, he continues to receive invitations to speak in churches. Although ‘sort of retired’, Stewart is very much aware that ‘God hasn’t finished with me yet and there’s still a lot more to do’.
As far as hobbies and interests are concerned, Stewart has many, but it’s true to say that angling is up there at the top of the pile. He is also a keen blogger and posts every day on his personal website, which is called Blogging Life’s Journey. Check it out here.
Debby Bloor
Debby, like her husband, was also born in Staffordshire, England. Her testimony though is very different, as she was born into a Christian family. Nevertheless, there was still the need for personal commitment and that happened when she was at primary school.
After learning to play guitar in her first year at secondary school, Debby then began to play in the Sunday service, at the evangelical church her family attended. Her love for music developed naturally and she began to take a keen interest in contemporary Christian music, which she has to this day.
On her 21st birthday (August) Debby was single, as she was waiting for God to bring the right person into her life. Two months later (October) she met Stewart, got engaged on Christmas Eve (December) and was married in the spring (May). In reference to Stewart’s passion, he slipped the ring on her finger as they sat in his car, parked next to his favourite barbel fishing peg on the River Severn.
During the years of their missions work overseas, Debby looked after the accounts. She also travelled a few times though with Stewart to Belgium, Ghana, Netherlands, South Africa, USA, as well as the home nations of England, Scotland and Wales.
Debby’s passion, as far as hobbies are concerned, is crafting. She has her own craft room at home, where she makes cards, enjoys crocheting and knitting and loves Bible journaling. She also walks the family pet, Dilwyn the Bedlington terrier twice a day in the area where they live. If you follow our online Sunday services regularly, you will know that Dilwyn often puts in an appearance of his own.
