I tried an experiment today. I woke Bixby, my Samsung smartphone assistant, and asked it to play a Christian Rock song on Spotify.
Well, what can I say other than, good choice Bixby. It opened up a ‘Top Christian Rock’ playlist, with the first song being ‘Not Afraid’ by Skillet who are already on my favourites list, so I skipped a few tracks, then came across a new band called The Protest.
I liked what I heard, so what I did next was search them out and look at the rest of their tracks. I found a brilliant song called ‘Greater’. I loved the lyrics of this one:
‘I don’t do it for the money
I don’t do it for the fame
As long as someone listens, I don’t care who knows my name
I don’t do it for the glory
I don’t do it for the game
I do it all to make them see this is all for something greater than me’
Needless to say I have a new band added to my favourites, they may not be to everyone’s taste but if you like Alternative Metal then they should go down well.
