I have something a little different for you today. I don’t think I could ever be accused of being stuck in one music genre.

Last Sunday, it was my turn to lead the first part of the service in the physical church that we attend. The opening song I chose was called ‘King Of Kings’.

He has a very different modern style to some of the artists I usually listen to but I really like it. The first song that stood out to me was ‘Glory’. I love his voice, the lyrics and the style of the song is just really different, it is a song that has really stuck…

We have recently been away on holiday and that means, a road trip playlist. Although I like many different bands and genres I always seem to gravitate to Stephen Stanley to accompany me.

I’m going off-track again this week, as I have found a band I like that doesn’t fit into an alphabet music challenge. Sounds odd, but when you see that they are called 7eventh Time Down, you can see what I mean.

One song that I wrote about last week, and mentioned in the Church service is still very much in my head, so I thought I would share the link to a new rock version by Seventh Day Slumber.

The weeks have rolled by and this Sunday it’s my turn to lead the service at the church we attend.

I was about 13 when I first discovered him as Ishmael United. I was completely taken by the punk/ska style songs he was making. I went to see him perform at a local church with my parents, and I remember him wearing a boiler suit and dancing pogo style as he was singing.

Another track that I liked, is one that I know originally as a church song, but it has been given a very interesting makeover with a few additional lyrics added too. I liked the original version, but this is even better.

Thankfully, the story doesn’t end there, and three days later Jesus rose from the grave and defeated death. Tommee Profitt and Phil Wickham have come up with an amazing version of the traditional hymn ‘He Arose’. I’ve chosen a video of their performance here.
