I was in the Stoke-on-Trent area last weekend and came across a redundant church building. Sadly, it’s a common occurrence these days.
My thoughts, however, focused on a scriptural truth rather than the disappointment of a building that has now closed down.
In Matthew 16:18, we read the following:
And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.
For as much as we don’t like to see churches that have ceased to exist, the reality is that the building is not the church.
Individual congregations may come and go but the kingdom endures.
There’s also something in this week’s service regarding the sad passing of George Foreman.
