This week’s online service from the upper room features footage relating to our home church, or ‘real’ church, as I describe it.
One of the points that we often emphasise is that The Church at Hiraeth, while having a very important function, is not intended to be an ultimate substitute for commitment to a physical group of believers.
With my wedding anniversary last week, the message comes from Ecclesiastes 4 (not 3, as I say a couple of times in the video). It tells the story of how we met and immediately knew that we would spend the rest of our lives together.
9 Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
