This week I have been listening to songs that I needed to learn for the Church that we attend. Our band meets together once a week to practice for the following Sunday service. When I’m not familiar with any of the songs, they become a Spotify playlist for the next couple of days until I get to know them.
One of the songs from this week that stood out to me is ‘Boldly I Approach’ HERE by Rend Collective. I came across this band some years ago now, and I have really liked some of their other songs, which I will mention later, but I was not familiar with this particular one.
On researching more about this song I discovered that it has become the most popular hymn in the German church. Personally I really love the lyrics and music so I have to agree with Germany it does make a really good worship hymn.
As I mentioned earlier I first listened to Rend Collective several years ago, the first song that captured me was ‘Build Your Kingdom Here’ HERE. The Irish Folk style and energy of the band really come across on this one, I remember at the time I had it on repeat for quite some time. It’s also one that we now sing in Church.
Lastly I must mention ‘My Lighthouse’ HERE. When I first sang it at a Church I was attending I didn’t realise it was a Rend Collective song, I really liked it and I always remember there were some little children there singing their hearts out in the ‘My Lighthouse’ part of the chorus. It was so nice to see them enjoying praising God.
I really love the imagery this song gives, with God as our lighthouse, watching over us, keeping us safe as we navigate thorough life and come across our various troubles and worries along the way.
