I’m revisiting an old favourite this week. I came across the band Echoing Angels quite some years ago now. In fact it was at the time when ‘Myspace’ was very popular. If you’re not as old as me, and not familiar with ‘Myspace’, it was a social network platform that enabled you to have your own page and upload images and gifs, and embed music, amongst other things. It also had a facility to follow various profiles and bands and send chat messages.
Anyway, where I am going with this, is that for quite some time the track I had playing as my profile song was by Echoing Angels. It was one of my favourites at the time and has continued to be so to this day. ‘You Alone’, is the song in question, you can listen here.
I love everything about it, the music, the lyrics and the vocals. In fact, I like it so much that each time I make a favourites playlist on Spotify, I always include it and often more than once. In that way I get to listen to it several times while the list plays. To keep with the tradition of multiple adds I have also included a live video version, recorded in a church, for you to watch, here.
Whilst thinking about this post, I came to realise, that even though I loved ‘You Alone’ so much, I had not explored any of the bands other music. So that is just what I have done today.
Another track that really stood out to me from the same album is ‘Make It Better’. I’ve put that here for you to listen to. It sounds great, but it’s also the lyrics that really attracted me to to this one, especially the chorus part below.
“And I don’t have to worry if You’re gonna leave me
Everyday wake up, I can feel You near me
And I know that You can make it better.
There’s so many reasons why I keep believing,
You don’t have to show me, I don’t have to see them
‘Cause I know that You can make it better
You can make it better”
I like the country/rock style of this band and I’m loving the ‘You Alone’ album, I’m so glad I revisited Echoing Angels. Hope you enjoy them too.
