If you have seen my previous blog entry on Forrest Frank this will make more sense, but it seems that breaking bones inspires great Christian song writing. Just to recap, Forrest Frank broke his back and ended up writing two brilliant songs whilst he was laid up in bed.
Shortly afterwards another artist, ‘Crowder’, broke his leg quite badly, meaning that he was off his feet for quite some time, he happened to tag Forrest frank in a video that he made. The response was, well I imagine you can guess, Forrest wrote him the beginnings of a song, you can see the video here.
Crowder from his hospital bed then finished the song and replied by video to Forrest here. It’s sounding good already but here is the finished song, its a brilliant collaboration that may never had happened had they not both broken bones.
Crowder is the main artist I am looking at today and a song of his that has long been my favourite is ‘My Beloved’. His style of music is a blend of folk, rock and worship known as ‘folktronica’. I’ve chosen the video here of a live recording, its so much better to see the band and instruments they are playing and you can almost feel the atmosphere in the place.
Another track from the album ‘Neon Steeple’ is ‘Hands of Love’. this has the same uplifting, beat. I really like the blend of banjo, bass and synthesizer, it’s quite unique. Crowder himself calls this song a ‘hillbilly dance’, the video is here… enjoy!
The last track I have chosen is a song that Crowder made with Dante Bowe and Maverick City music. Again I have used the video because it makes the songs so much more special, the lyrics are really beautiful and so very true. I hope you like this one as much as I do here.
For a little insight into the background of this song and even to learn how to play it, there is a video here that you might find interesting.
There are so many more Crowder songs that I could include on here, why not go exploring and check out some more for yourself, you won’t be disappointed.
