The artist I have chosen today is sadly no longer with us as he passed away in 2021. Carmen (full name Carmen Domenic Licciardello) is an Italian American, born in New Jersey. He was a firm favourite in our household and is not just your average performer as you will see later. He acts out quite a few of his songs as he sings them on stage, he certainly has a rare talent.
We took our eldest daughter to Derby to see him in concert back in the early 90’s and were thrilled when he performed one of our favourites ‘Lazarus Come Forth’. This is a live video recording as you can’t just simply listen to this one, it’s so much better to watch him in action here.
Another like this is ‘Sunday’s On The Way’ here, he’s so good with his story telling you can actually picture the scene as it unfolds.
Aside from the live performances many of his music videos are also something special to behold, being a mini movie in each one. One such example is ‘The Courtroom’ here, this was a new one to me but it’s so good, he certainly gets the message over that with God on your side, you can’t lose.
Another that’s quite topical for the time time of year is ‘A Witch’s Invitation’, I’ll leave this for you to watch as an ‘alternative’ Halloween Movie. here
So far they haven’t actually been songs that you would listen to purely as music, one of our favourite more usual tracks is ‘Addicted To Jesus’ here and with a similar style ‘Who’s In The House’ here. Seems he’s quite a dancer too.
It’s certainly been a little different today but I did think Carmen was worth a mention, if you have enjoyed what I’ve shown you there are many more videos that you can watch online. I actually found a full length movie that he had made, called ‘The Champion’, that I knew nothing about, so you can guess what I’ll be doing later…
