Something a little different today, AI rock music. I don’t know if you have come across it before, but I am liking it very much. I have my suspicions that the group I blogged about a few weeks ago, Higher power, are an AI band, but this time I have purposefully gone to check it out and have found a rather interesting artist.
Pastor Brad, it seems, isn’t your average Church Minister. Here is part of his bio from Spotify.
“Pastor Brad is on a mission to Rock You Up for Jesus! He’s a Christ-following pastor, teacher, and 80s-style Christian metal artist who brings old-school shred and eternal truth together in one powerful package.
Brad picked up a guitar in 1982 and met Jesus in 1987—two life-changing moments that shaped everything that followed. After surviving a brain tumour and losing much of his vision, Brad stepped boldly into ministry. Today, he serves at First Christian Church in Cookeville, TN and releases faith-filled metal that inspires and encourages believers worldwide.”
I should imagine there aren’t too many Pastors out there who are metal artists, he is also an exceptionally talented guitarist and some of his early material is purely guitar based or shred as he calls it, here.
The First song I have chosen is one that he recorded before he started to use AI, it’s a parody of ‘Highway 2 Hell’, which I thought was really clever, some of you seasoned metal heads will recognise the tune, but will find the lyrics a little different. I certainly want to be on a highway to heaven anyway so I like this version. here
I love my next choice, it’s a cover of a well know hymn ‘On Christ The Solid Rock’, I think it’s such a good arrangement, I get it stuck in my head every time I hear it. I hope you like it as much as I do here
‘Let Go, Let God’ here, is an original from Pastor Brad, such good lyrics on this one. In fact all of his lyrics are brilliant, in a lot of them he portrays biblical events or characters such as in this one that I especially like here, ‘The Lion’s Roar’, which is based on the biblical account of Daniel in the den of lions. Oh, those high notes, I think the AI explains them, I’m not sure anyone could hit them like that, they sound amazing though.
I thought you might like to see Pastor Brad himself, he has a lot of great video shorts about various Christian topics and verses, here is one talking about another of his Christian Rock projects called ‘Nooma’, and here is the particular song he mentioned .
I’m going to finish with a slight hint towards Christmas, we are almost there after all. Pastor brad has covered lot’s of Christmas songs and carols, but this one is a little different and it’s called ‘The Grinch Conversion’, here, it’s a brilliant account of the Grinch who stole all the joy at Christmas, seeing the light when he meets with Jesus, then he ends his fight against joy.
See you all next time and only in this case… Be a grinch!
