I came across Jason Gray when I was flitting through Spotify, I liked a couple of the songs that I heard, so he is going to be the one in my spotlight this week.
I don’t know about you, but when I am looking at new songs it’s often the title that makes me choose which one to listen to, I may miss a few good ones in doing that, but that’s how I roll.
‘Sparrows’ is the song that grabbed my attention initially, mainly because Stewart had mentioned earlier that day, the Bible passage that talks about sparrows, and how God knows if anything happens to any of them. But it says we are worth so much more than sparrows so we should never worry, we can be assured that God knows all about us too. The verse is Matthew 10:29-31.
I loved the lyrics to this song, they are so very true and a great reminder to us all that God is watching over us. I hope you like it, here.
I have something a little different now. One of the albums is called ‘Song Cycles’ and it gives various tracks from the work tapes to the actual produced and finished song that goes out for us all to hear. I selected, the track ‘More Like Falling In Love’ and I thought it would be interesting to see the song’s progression and how it becomes much more polished at it moves along. So I apologise in advance but I am giving you the same song 3 times, well actually 4 because I have found a great video of him performing it live, and telling a little about the background to the lyrics. So here goes, the work tape comes first, then the demo, then the finished result here. And finally, the video. Love it, or hate it, at least you can say you now know the song well after all that!
‘I’m Gonna Let It Go’ is my next choice, similar sentiment to the first song, but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to be reminded again not to worry and stress over things, so here it is in video form so that you have something to watch while you listen, pretty cool video too I thought.
I shall end, the way I finish most of my text messages to my daughters, with a LOL. My final choice has a very catchy tune, and knowing that we are forgiven by God, and can have our burdens lifted, gives us a lot to be thankful for. It’s enough to make you want to ‘Laugh Out Loud’ here.
See you next time LOL
