B Is For…

B is for B-Shoc, Band Reeves, Beacon Light and Big Daddy Weave, my favourite four of the many bands and artists I have listened to this week. I’m amazed how big the Christian music industry has become and how many bands there are out there to be discovered. Music streaming is one part of modern life that I really enjoy. Without that my choice would be very limited, maybe not so much in America, where most of the artists are from, but definitely here in the UK.

B-Shoc is something very different to my usual listening tastes, however I quite liked what I have heard. ‘Jesus Jump’ is my first choice, here, and then ‘It’s A Great day’ here. I love the beats and the lyrics are good too, but I especially like the video to the latter, it’s well worth a watch.

Similar to B-Shoc is Beacon Light, it’s not so much music that I would listen to but I think his story telling within the songs is amazing, so I couldn’t pass him by without sharing these two: ‘Creation’ here and ‘Mercy’ here. I do think they are really quite clever and ‘Mercy’ especially, is very impactful.

Now for Band Reeves, two brothers who are actually construction workers but music is their real passion. They wrote the song ‘Hold On Job’ here, to encourage people who are facing challenges. Beautiful vocals on this one and as in so many of the songs I have chosen, I love the lyrics. Another I chose for the same reason is ‘Jesus Won’t’ here. It’s definitely not a case of “don’t give up the day job” for these two.

Last, but by no means least, is Big Daddy Weave who are not a new band to me. The first time I came across them was the track ‘Fields Of Grace’ here, from their album of the same name from 2003. They have become quite a big name in Christian music and have produced many albums. The last track I have chosen for today, is right up to date from an album released in 2025, and is called ‘My Hope Is Jesus’ here.

Very different styles between my selections this week, something there that maybe everyone can enjoy, and each one brings it’s own message of encouragement and hope in Jesus. See you next week.
