Well, we have made it to the letter E, and I’ve not found this an easy one. However, I kept searching and have come up with, what I consider to be, a few gems. I am trying to keep to new music discoveries but I have to confess, I cheated with the last entry. I already knew about them, but couldn’t resist sharing a couple of my favourite songs with you.
My first new discovery is a band called Empire Nation who were, back in 2010, based in Cambridge in the UK. Most of the Christian bands I look at are in the USA, so it’s really good to find some homegrown talent. They began at a Christian youth event and were initially just playing worship songs written by other people. Eventually they progressed to writing their own material. I really like them and think they have a great sound, something a little different. I have chosen two of their songs, ‘Starlight’ here and ‘Light My Way’ in video form here.
Next up is Everfound, four Russian siblings called Ruslan, Nikita, Yan, and Illarion Odnoralov based in Denver, Colorado. They began back in 2005, but they have since changed their name to Saint Nomad, I’m sticking with their original name today though. Again, I really like their sound and lyrics. It’s the vocals in particular that really stand out, in the acoustic session of the first song that I have chosen ‘Never Beyond Repair’. I’ve linked the video here. The second track is more up-tempo but I’m liking this too, it’s called ‘Torch’ here.
Last, but by no means least, we have Elevation Worship, who have written many songs that are sung in church services today. My first choice is ‘The Blessing’, this song is based on the bible scripture found in Numbers 6:24-26, you can read that here. I’ve selected a live performance of the song here. The last song I have for you today is a big favourite of mine and is called simply ‘Praise’. It’s hard to keep still to this one, or at least keep your feet still anyway. Hope you enjoy this, again, live performance here.
Thank you for reading, and I’ll see you again next time.
