Well, it doesn’t seem like more than a couple of days have passed, yet here I am a week later writing a new blog entry. Time certainly does fly by, I must be getting old; anyway we have reached F, so let’s crack on.
I have three selections this week and the first is a band new to me, called Fee. They are based in Atlanta, GA, and are led by songwriter Steve Fee, hence the name of the band. They have played at various Christian conferences and play a kind of praise and worship high anthem rock. I really like their style and sound and the lyrics to the songs are always very positive and uplifting. I have chosen two very different songs: ‘Arms That Hold The Universe’, which is a ballad style here and ‘God Is Alive’, which is much more up-tempo here. I really like them and they are definitely worth checking out.
For A Season is next. They are another new band to me and, I actually don’t know much about them, other than I like their music. They do some covers of Christian worship songs, but also some of their own songs that I think are really good. Two in particular are ‘Deeper’ here, and ‘Lionhearted’ here.
I have saved the best till last. I already knew about this band and I have been ready and waiting for their letter to come around. The band in question is Firefalldown. My reason for liking them so much is that we saw them live at a Church event, where my youngest daughter was also playing with her band at the time. I had one particular song of theirs, ‘Commissioned’ playing on my ‘Myspace’ profile for quite some time, back in the day. The band was formed in London, but have since moved to the Philippines and a lot of their newer material is sadly no longer in English. I still have my two favourites that I can listen to though and they are: ‘These Wounds’ here and ‘Commissioned’ in video form here.
I actually bought a ‘Firefalldown’ t-shirt, so I must find that out and start wearing it again. Hope you enjoy, and see you again next week.
