We were away on holiday last week, so I thought I would skip the alphabet search this time and go with my road trip music.
I downloaded four playlists that I had made from different bands but, for some reason, I always gravitate to Stephen Stanley. He has become my travelling music. Often there is something different on in the car but I like to have my own music in my ear.
I think maybe because I am in the car and can’t do much else, I listen to to the songs more intently and take a lot more notice of the lyrics. One particular song that I have heard many times before, stood out to me this time, especially the lyrics, “God’s still paying attention. You ain’t gotta figure it out”.
It made me think that so often we spend time going over things in our head and trying to work scenarios and situations that may be arising. But simply all we need to do is trust God, because He has it all in hand. He knows exactly what we need and we don’t have to stress over how we can figure out worrying situations. It’s called ‘Hurts For You’ and you can listen here.
Another track that fits in with the previous is ‘I’ll Carry You’, here. This song talks about various bad situations that we may go through, but all the time God is our hero and He will carry us through them.
One more song I would like to mention wasn’t on my playlist but it came to mind when I was thinking about the extremely windy and stormy weather that we experienced whilst on holiday. The winds shook the caravan we were staying in and we could hear the rain and hail battering on the roof.
The song that came to mind is ‘Firm Foundation’, sung here, by Cody Carnes. It made me think how important is is to have a firm foundation on which to build our lives, one that can’t be destroyed by adverse situations. “Christ is my firm foundation The Rock on which I stand. When everything around me is shaking, I’ve never been more glad, that I put my faith in Jesus, ‘Cause He’s never let me down.”
Great lyrics and a great hope for us to hold onto. See you next week.
