A Little Bit Of This And A Little Bit Of That

The weeks have rolled by and this Sunday it’s my turn to lead the service at the church we attend. We’re going to be looking at God’s throne in heaven, so I chose praise as my theme for the songs that we will be singing.

One of the songs is a new one to me, so I have been listening to that this week. It’s called ‘There Is A Higher Throne’, here, and its a beautiful song written by Keith and Kristyn Getty. Spotify has a feature that gives you the background to some of the songs, and for this one it tells us: “The song paints a vivid picture of heaven, drawing inspiration from the book of Revelation in the Bible.”

We’re not singing it , but I am going to talk about a song called ‘Praise’. I have mentioned it before in a previous blog as it is one of my favourites. I’ll add it again here, and if you look at the lyrics it encourages us to praise God, even when we don’t feel like it.

Brandon Lake who is one of the co-writers of the song posted this on his Facebook account and it sums up the song perfectly: “Life is full of ups and downs, but God is always worthy of our praise. Psalm 34:1 says, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” 🙌🏼

Even in the hardest moments, our praise can shift our focus from the problem to the One who holds it all. Just like Paul and Silas worshipped in their prison (Acts 16:25-26), you can praise Him right where you are—chains and all.

No matter what you’re walking through today, choose to praise Him. Let’s be a people who praise Him anywhere.”

I play guitar in church and also for The Church At Hiraeth, our online Church. Stewart’s friend Ian came over the other day and said he enjoys watching me play the guitar and likes to see what chords I am playing and what strum patterns I use, as he is learning to play himself. It’s always nice to know that people are watching or reading the things that we write. So, thank you for the encouragement, Ian.

I’ll leave you with one final song that we will be singing Sunday evening ‘Boldly I approach’ by Rend Collective, and I’ll post the video here.

Hope you all have a good week and I’ll see you next time.
