A Little Off-Track

I’m going off-track again this week, as I have found a band I like that doesn’t fit into an alphabet music challenge. Sounds odd, but when you see that they are called 7eventh Time Down, you can see what I mean. I loved what I heard, and wanted to share what I had found, so here we are.

I seem to have a thing at the moment for bands with the word Seventh, or even 7eventh, in their name, following on from last week when I mentioned Seventh Day Slumber.

I’m finding it quite difficult to find new music that isn’t AI-generated. I find myself scrolling through playlists, hearing a sound that I really love, only to find that it is an AI band. So it was refreshing to discover this band, who sounded so good, yet were real flesh and bones people.

The first track I would like to share is called ‘The 99’, here. I have mentioned a song of this same title before by Mac Powell, but this one is completely different, it only shares a name. It was the title that drew me to this particular track, as I particularly love the concept of Jesus coming to search for us when we have lost our way. I particularly like these lyrics in the song;

“You’re convinced I’m worth it all, nailed the proof up on the cross.
So I can finally see, that there’s no place You wouldn’t go.
You’re searching high and low, You leave the ninety-nine to lead me home.”

The next track ‘Promises’, here, echoes the words of the old hymn that we often sing in the Church at Hiraeth service, ‘Standing On the promises of God’. It has more updated lyrics but the sentiment is the same; we can trust God and we can trust his promises. In a world of untruths and deception, it’s good to know that we can always rely on God.

7eventh Time Down also do covers of Church worship songs, so here is one that I would like to leave you with. It is another of my favourites, that we also sing in our physical church. It’s called ‘This Is Amazing Grace’ and you can listen, here.

Bye for now, see you next time.
