We have recently been away on holiday and, that means, a road trip playlist. Although I like many different bands and genres I always seem to gravitate to Stephen Stanley to accompany me. Obviously, as we went away as a family, I was chatting and looking around as well, and I always only use one earbud, (which unfortunately means I don’t get the full effect of the bass etc), but I can still enjoy listening to the music in one ear.
The car journey is around four hours but as I do have a very extensive playlist for Stephen Stanley, with a couple of my favourites included more than once, it lasts half the way, then I just begin again if I want to listen more.
My favourite track that is included six times in that particular playlist, (well, it is my favourite), is ‘Rest In The Father’. I have mentioned this before in a previous entry, but I have to say it is such a great song. I’m going to link it again for you, this time it is a slightly different version as it has a guest appearance of Jonathan Traylor. I think they work really well together, I’m usually not keen when a guest singer is included, but this one I really do like and you can listen here.
Thursday night is band practice night and this week we practised a song that I know but hadn’t played before; I enjoy learning new songs. It’s a lovely worship song called ‘What A Beautiful Name’, I’ve linked it here for you. This version is by one of my favourite rock bands Seventh Day Slumber. We didn’t play it quite as rocky as that, there are only three of us after all, however I couldn’t miss the chance to include one of their worship covers.
Also there were two other songs on the list that are favourites of mine, so I really enjoyed practice this week, and we are now all ready and prepared for the service on Sunday evening. One of those two songs was ‘You Are The Rock (I’ll Sing), by Simon Brading. I’m singing at a local Methodist ladies rally next week and, I may sing this, but I’m not too sure yet. I’ll link it here so that you can listen, it is a lovely song.
I spent this week rearranging, tidying and sorting my craft room, so I needed some music to keep me going. I chose an artist that I will share with you next week. We are back to the alphabet list and we have made it to the letter J.
I’ll leave you guessing who it might be and I’ll see you next week.
