Welcome to our latest online service from the upper room. The World Cup has now started and, for its duration, I will be wearing a football top for every Sunday service.
This week it’s an England 1966 World Cup winning replica shirt, complete with the number 10 on the back, which was that of Geoff Hurst. His hat-trick helped secure the victory, against West Germany, as England lifted the trophy for the first – and only – time.
Keeping with the beautiful game, there’s also something on football fans and Christian discipleship. There is a lot of common ground. Last week, I was involved at the church we (Debby and I) attend in person and there’s footage from there.
